Forthepasteightyears,theU.S.Army'sSniperSchoolatFortBenning,Ga.,hashostedtheInternationalSniperCompetition;whereelitetwo-manteamscompetetoearnthecovetedtitleof"topsniper."Inthisgruelingcompetition,theparticipants'precision,camouflage,stalkingandobservationalskillsareputtotheultimatetest.
Eighteenchallengingeventsexaminetheteams'expertiseinlong-rangeshooting,urbancombatandcovertmaneuveringthroughrealisticconflictsandenvironments.Bringingtogetherthemostelitesnipersfromaroundtheworld,thecompetitionshowcasesthirty-threeteamsfrombranchesoftheU.S.Army,Marines,andAirForce,andforthefirsttimeeverincludesalawenforcementteam-aSWATteamfromPittsburgh,Pa.TheinternationalfieldincludesrepresentativesfromCanada,Denmark,FranceandIreland.Sincesomemilitaryteamsarecomprisedofactivespecialforces,theidentitiesofmanyofthecompetitorshavebeenconcealedinordertoensurethesafetyofthepersonnel.
